1. Is Thumbs Up! FREE software ? Is this the FULL version ?
Thumbs Up! is absolutely 100% freeware. There are no nag screens or spyware. It's totally safe to use, so you're welcome to hand out copies to your friends and family.
All we ask is that you respect our copyright and don't try and sell the program or even claim the code as your own...
2. I can't get this to work on my pc. What is this program
supposed to do ?
Thumbs Up! is the industry leading, webpage thumbnail creator and mini browser for Windows. It allows you to quickly capture thumbnails or web archive images of any webpage and later use those images to navigate back to the website of your choice.
Thumbs Up! must be able to access the internet. If you have not already done so, be sure to adjust your security/firewall programs to allow Thumbs Up! safe access to the internet...
3. The thumbnail view is blank, what's wrong ?
You may be attempting to capture a thumbnail of a dynamically loading webpage. As a result, Thumbs Up! doesn't know when is the 'best time' to take the snapshot. Try pressing the 'Refresh Thumbnail' icon (the one at the bottom of the screen that looks like Mona Lisa), and ThumbsUp! will update the thumbnail view with the most recent snapshot available...
4. Thumbnails are taking too long to appear. How do I speed
things up ?
Try to close all other open applications. If at all feasible, try upgrading your internet service connection speed with your local ISP. Thumbs Up! also features a built in Popup Blocker. Make sure you enable this feature by clicking on the radiobox in the Edit/Options screen in the Main Menu...
5. How do I save a thumbnail image to my hard drive

6. The saved webpage thumbnail is too small. What am I doing
wrong ?
Thumbnail sizes may be altered from the Main Menu's Options screen. Change the images from icon size to full webpage size. You may access the Options screen from the Main Menu under Edit/Options, be sure to save your favorite thumbnail to load each time you launch Thumbs Up! by pressing the My Favorite Thumbnail button (the heart icon) under the Thumbnail view...
7. What should I call my images when I save them ?
We highly recommend that you name image files after the website that they refer to.
For example: if you navigate to www.google.com, save the thumbnail image as google.bmp or google.jpg. Later, when you load the image, Thumbs Up! will know that the original website the image was taken from was www.google.com, allowing you to instantly navigate back to a 'live' version of the site...
8. I can't read the text on the thumbnail image. Can you help
?
Thumbs Up! features a Zoom Tool, allowing you to pick out fine detail from webpage thumbnails. The Zoom tool may be accessed either by selecting View / Zoom from the Main Menu at the top of the screen or directly by right clicking the Thumbnail View to access a small floating menu. To cancel Zoom view, simply click outside of the magnified image, or select Show Thumbnail from the menu...
9. Why can't I open a saved image from the File menu

Thumbs Up! supports the following file types - Windows Bitmap Images (.BMP), JPEG (.JPG) compressed images and GIF (.GIF) image format. In addition to HTML (.HTML), HTM (.HTM) and SHTML (.SHTML) webpage files. All files may be dragged and dropped onto the application to open! Please ensure that the file you are attempting to open is a supported type and that it is not corrupted...
10. Which file type and thumbnail size do you reccomend I use
?
JPEG(.JPG) images are compressed files, and as such, typically result in a much smaller file size while retaining a far higher percentage of the original image quality and detail. As far as optimising thumbnail images go, try selecting a picture size to capture the necessary detail whilst minimising the file size (go ahead and experiment a little!). Remember, thumbnails can be resized in an image editor later on, but it's impossible to add detail that wasn't there to begin with...
11. Is it possible to just drag images into ThumbsUp!
?
Certainly! Simply drag ANY compatible image icon directly onto the application. Thumbs Up! will immediately create thumbnails of the image, allowing you to instantly navigate to the website or launch the site in your default browser. You may also view archived webpages and create thumbnails by selecting Tools / Web Archive from the Main Menu...
12. Why can't I click on ALL the links in the Thumbnail view
?
"Thumbs Up! recognises links and displays the link that the mouse is currently over in the Status Bar. Thumbs Up! was designed to capture and create thumbnails from webpages.
It isn't a web browser as such, it's essentially a mini browser, meaning you
are able to navigate the web or gather information (thumbnails). If you wish to
visit the web page of the current thumbnail simply click on the Quick Launch
View on the right of the appllication screen to automatically launch the current
website in your default browser...
